R-Alpha-Lipoic Acid

Sodium R-Lipoate is the stabilized form of the body's natural R-alpha lipoic acid. Most products on the market are a mixture of synthetic (S-form) and nature-identical alpha lipoic acid (R-form). This is because of price and because R-alpha lipoic acid in its pure form is very unstable and temperature sensitive. That is a thing of the past with the sodium-R-lipoate compound. The beneficial effects of lipoic acid are almost entirely due to the body's own R-shape and one capsule now contains twice that amount. In addition, sodium R-lipoate has a high bioavailability and the same dosage.

Alpha lipoic acid is a sulfur-containing fatty acid. It occurs in all cells of the human body. There is natural biosynthesis of lipoic acid within the body, which means that the body is able to make alpha-lipoic acid itself to a limited extent.
