Guar bean fiber
The guar plant, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, is grown in several parts of India, including areas with severe drought. Its beans and leaves have been part of the Indian diet for thousands of years.
Guar beans are a rich source of soluble prebiotic fibers. Vitals Guar Bean Fibers use Sunfiber®.
Sunfiber® is the brand name for guar bean fibers that gain their user-friendly properties through a natural fermentation process. One of these properties is excellent solubility in water.
Fermented guar bean fibers from Sunfiber® are widely regarded around the world as ideal fibers.
What fibers are
Dietary fibers are long chains of carbohydrates. They consist of 10 or more carbohydrate building blocks, also called monosaccharides.
Human digestive enzymes in the small intestine cannot break down these fibers. Dietary fibers are an important part of a varied and balanced diet.
Fibers can be divided into two categories: water-soluble fibers and insoluble fibers.
Examples of water-soluble fibers include guar bean fibers, also called galactomannan, inulin, and psyllium fibers.
Soluble and insoluble fibers
Examples of insoluble fibers include wheat bran and fibers from other whole grains. Water-soluble fibers are also called prebiotics because the gut microbiota can ferment them.
In general, the better a fiber dissolves, the better it can be fermented. Fermentation by the gut microbiota produces metabolites such as short-chain fatty acids, including butyrate, propionate, and acetate.
It is important that this fermentation process does not take place too quickly. Otherwise, it may cause gas formation.
Sunfiber® from Taiyo
Sunfiber® combines excellent water solubility with fermentation that is not too fast but still complete. This makes it very user-friendly.
For example, psyllium fibers dissolve much less well in water, while inulin ferments very quickly.
Taiyo is the producer of Sunfiber® and a global market leader and expert in guar bean fibers. Guar bean fibers normally form a gel in water.
Taiyo developed a special production process to improve their solubility in water.
Production process
This gel formation occurs because guar bean fibers naturally consist of very long carbohydrate chains.
During production, a natural enzyme is used in a fermentation process to break these long chains into shorter chains. These shorter chains dissolve much better in water.
The carbohydrate chains must also not become too short, because then they would ferment too quickly in the intestine.
Taiyo's unique production process creates the optimal chain length and gives Sunfiber® its ideal properties.
Source material
The Sunfiber® in Guar Bean Fibers is made entirely from unsprayed guar beans.
