Red Yeast Rice + CoQ10 (formerly: Choleast)

Thorne Red Yeast Rice + CoQ10 contains 600 mg of red yeast rice powder plus 15 mg coenzyme Q10 per capsule.

Thorne Red Yeast Rice + CoQ10 is red yeast rice powder derived from Monascus purpereus WENT, an organism (yeast) that grows on rice. Red Yeast Rice has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM/TCM) for centuries. Red Yeast Rice + CoQ10 contains, among other things, phytosterols, isoflavones and certain proteins as active ingredients.

Ubiquinol (Q10) essential next to Red Yeast Rice

Synthetic statins or natural statins from Red Yeast Rice have the side effect of reducing the status of Ubiquinol (Q10) in the body.

The most common side effect of statins is myalgia (muscle pain). Studies have shown that this side effect is much more common in people who have low levels of Ubiquinol in the body. That is why it is very important to take a Ubiquinol supplement when using Statins (or Red Yeast Rice).
