Bioactive Milk Peptides
Bioactive Milk Peptides (Lactium®) are an advanced nutrient complex consisting of patented bioactive peptides naturally occurring in milk.
Lactium
Lactium® is a natural milk protein-based ingredient and is a beneficial addition to your daily diet. It was developed by the laboratories of Ingredia in France and it took 12 years of research in collaboration with the University of Lorraine to develop it.
Interestingly, the discovery of Lactium® was made possible by babies, because the enzymes in their digestive system release the bioactive peptide with a positive effect. Adults, however, cannot produce this peptide because their digestive enzyme system is no longer capable of doing so.
To overcome this, researchers at Ingredia developed an innovative process that mimics babies' digestive mechanism by using the digestive enzyme trypsin to isolate the milk protein hydrolysate, which contains the bioactive peptide alpha-casozepine, from casein.
