Life cycle of women
Women's bodies and metabolism are biologically vastly different from those of men. Throughout her life, a woman's hormones are focused on the reproductive process. This causes a girl to become fertile and menstruate in her adolescence. Until the transition she goes through the cycle from ovulation to menstruation every month. In middle age, menopause sets in and fertility decreases again. These phases each have a different hormonal effect on the female body.
Many women go through one or more pregnancies and possibly the subsequent lactation period. During this period, much is asked of the female body.
So the need for nutrients, the body's fuel and building blocks, is different for women than for men.
Menstruation
For some women, the premenstrual period and the menstruation itself is a piece of cake. Others can be quite bothered by it: gloominess, poor sleep, abdominal pain, back pain, headaches, etc. All due to hormonal changes that can have quite an impact on the body and mind. There are several formulas specifically tailored to provide support during this period.
Fertility
There are many factors and nutrients that can affect a woman's fertility, positively and negatively. A healthy and regular lifestyle can boost fertility, but sometimes this is not enough. There may be underlying problems that reduce fertility, although there are also cases where there is no real cause.
There is a lot of research on fertility, including on nutrients. Unfortunately, due to European legislation, health claims are practically not allowed in the field of fertility.
Pregnancy and lactation
When a woman is pregnant she needs to take good care of herself as well as her unborn child. Especially during these crucial 9 months, it is important to get the right and sufficient nutrients. Because pregnancy takes a lot out of a woman's body and because the baby depends on the nutrients the mother takes in for his/her growth and development in the womb.
When the mother breastfeeds after birth, it is still important to get the right substances to feed the baby.
Transition and menopause
When the activity of the ovaries and thus female fertility decreases we speak of menopause. When a woman no longer menstruates we speak of the menopause. This period can cause discomfort and complaints due to changing hormone levels. For some support during this sometimes troublesome period, supplement formulas have been developed that can help with this.
Skin
Although men's and women's skin is built the same there are significant differences between men's and women's skin. Women's skin is thinner than men's and therefore more fragile.
The structure of connective tissue is weaker in women than in men. The amount of collagen decreases earlier in women than in men. The subcutaneous fat layer is thicker in women than in men, men have more sebaceous glands in the skin than women. Unfortunately, all this results in women's skin getting wrinkles and sagging earlier than men's skin. Hence, there has traditionally been a booming market in skin care products for women. However, skin can also be cared for from the inside out through proper nutrition and nutritional supplements.
Hair
Everyone would prefer to have a full and healthy head of hair. However, there are factors that can negatively affect the condition of the hair. Hormones, drugs, diseases, age and nutrition all play a role. There are several nutrients that can contribute to healthy hair.
Weight
For those who could use a helping hand in losing weight.
Bladder and urinary tract
Although men can also suffer from bladder problems, women are more susceptible to them than men. This is due to anatomy: the urethra in women is shorter and the exit is closer to the anus. As a result, bacteria find their way into the urinary tract more easily. Hormonal influences, especially around menopause, also play a role.
Night's rest
There are periods in a woman's life when falling asleep and/or sleeping through do not come naturally. During pregnancy, when children are small, with stress and during menopause, problems with night-sleep can flare up.
Thyroid
Women have thyroid problems more often than men, and this is especially true for women over the age of 50. It usually involves a slow-working thyroid gland.
