The Latest Saffron Extracts

Several raw material manufacturers have developed special saffron extracts that are highly absorbable and highly standardized for Safranal, Crocin and Picrocrocin. The best saffron products in our range use patented superior saffron extracts:

Affron®

Affron

Both the cultivation of the saffron and the manufacture of the saffron extract take place at producer Pharmactive in Spain. Because the entire production chain is in-house, it is possible to ensure ideal growing conditions and guarantee quality. The producer also has DNA testing done by an external party on their saffron as additional confirmation that Affron® is made from 100% real saffron.

From the pure raw material, an extract standardized at 3.5% Lepticrosalides®, a patented complex of the main active ingredients in saffron (such as safranal, crocin and picrocrocin), is obtained via a specially developed extraction method. It is quite unique that the High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analytical method is used for Affron ®.

SaffrActive

Saffr'Active®

Saffr'Active® is the proven extract from the pistils of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus), standardized to at least 2% crocin and safranal for a reliable effect and thoroughly tested for the absence of pesticides and other contaminants.

Satiereal

Satiereal®

Satiereal® is a patented and scientifically researched form of Saffron standardized on safranal, crocin and picrocrocin a full and maximum effect.

History Saffronsaffron

Saffron has a strong, exotic aroma and a bitter taste and is used to color and flavor many Mediterranean and Asian dishes, especially rice and fish, and English, Scandinavian and Balkan bread.

Saffron is grown mainly in Iran, but also in Spain, France, Italy and parts of India. It is a labor-intensive crop: the three stigmas are picked by hand from each flower, spread on trays and dried over charcoal fires for use as a food flavoring and coloring agent.

Saffron contains 0,5 to 1 percent essential oil, the main component of which is picrocrocin. The dye is crocin.

During several periods, saffron has been worth far more than its weight in gold. And it is still currently the most expensive spice in the world.
