29 times more absorbable
Curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream, whether from food or dietary supplements. This is why Meriva® was developed. Meriva® Curcumin Phytosome is the most clinically studied curcumin on the market.
It is a unique extract with much better absorption than other curcumin extracts. A human study showed 29 times better absorption than regular curcumin.
What is a Phytosome?
A phytosome is a plant extract bound to a phospholipid (from sunflower oil). Phospholipids are essential components of all human cells. And although the body produces its own phospholipids, such as phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylserine, phospholipids can also be obtained from food or dietary supplements.
The Dutch name is "phytosome," but the English "phytosome" is more commonly used.
When taken orally, phospholipids are very well absorbed. This patented Phytosome® technology is therefore used in most herbal extracts from the Italian company Indena.
Meriva®
Meriva® is the best-known phytosome produced by Indena. In this curcumin phytosome, the three curcuminoids attach to phospholipids, allowing up to 29 times more curcuminoids to be absorbed.
