What is Mastic Gum?

Mastic gum is the English name for mastic gum. However, the Dutch name is not often used. Mastic gum (or resin) comes from the mastic tree Pistacia lentiscus that grows on the Greek island of Chios.

This mastic resin is different from the resin of mastic trees that grow elsewhere: it is not liquid but crystallized. A nickname of this aromatic resin is "the tears of Chios" which refers to a Greek legend.

Two other names by which it is known are Chios mastic and Mastica. These are all names for the same high-quality resin from Greece.

Mastic Gum experiences

Long ago, this particular substance was used for health support. Mastic gum was mainly used for the stomach and digestion.

It can also be combined very well with liquorice, ginger and marshmallow extract. No regular remedy can beat this.
