What is L-Theanine?
L-Theanine is found almost exclusively in the tea plant Camellia sinensis. It is one of the reasons for the special taste of green tea. Dried green tea, a richer source than black tea, contains about 1-2% L-theanine.
The amount of it in tea can vary considerably and depends in part on how the leaves are further processed after picking. As a result, green tea generally contains much more of this healthy substance than black tea.
