Hop, or Humulus lupulus, is one of the best calming supplements. It is used successfully for stress and before sleeping*.
Hops: not just for beer
Hop (Humulus lupulus) is part of the plant family Cannabaceae (Hemp).
The fruit cones of the hop plant (hop cones) contain alpha acids and the essential oils and have a long and traditional use in Europe as a flavoring and preservative in beer. Hops give beer a bitter taste and are therefore mainly used in specialty beers, such as IPA (Indian Pale Ale). The preservative function is of less importance today.
Hop grows mainly in temperate and cold climate zones and only on moist, humid soil. On sea clay, hops do not grow.
Young hop shoots are also eaten as a seasonal vegetable (March-April).
