What is Clove?
Cloves are aromatic flower buds of the clove tree, scientifically known as Syzygium aromaticum, native to Indonesia and widespread in tropical regions.
These small, dark brown buds are known for their strong, warm and pungent flavor, making them a popular spice in culinary applications around the world.
They are used in various dishes, drinks and even for their aromatic qualities in perfumes and essential oils.
What is clove good for?
Clove is rich in antioxidants. Eugenol is the main active compound in cloves. This is also the compound most responsible for the famous clove aroma.
Clove is considered a healthy addition to a balanced diet and offers a range of potential benefits: it has beneficial effects on digestion and is good for the lungs (airways) and cardiovascular system. Clove is also widely used in the beauty industry because it is said to be good for hair growth. This has not been scientifically proven.*
