Chicory

Cichory root is rich in the soluble fiber inulin. This fiber serves as prebiotic for our intestines by providing a breeding ground for probiotics (the good bacteria). Inulin has the advantage of making us feel satiated longer.

What is Chicory?

Cichory (Cichorium intybus) is a tuberous plant with bitter leaves. It is a member of the composite family which also includes the well-known dandelion. It is also related to chicory and endive. Chicory is best known as a decaffeinated coffee alternative. When chicory is in bloom it has a beautiful blue color.

Chichory is rich in vitamin A and vitamin C and contains numerous minerals, including iron, magnesium and calcium.
