Nutrex Hawaii is a subsidiary of Cyanotech and was founded in 1990 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii by Dr. Gerald Cysewski, a world-renowned expert on microalgae and carotenoids. BioAstin® by Cyanotech

Cyanotech (BioAstin®) was the first major producer of 100% natural GMO-free algae. Their natural astaxanthin has been among the highest quality since the beginning.

Harvesting and processing techniques (including the supercritical CO₂-extraction method) yield highly pure astaxanthin.

BioAstin® is grown in a biologically safe area in Hawaii, and is free of herbicides, pesticides and industrial contaminants.

The main difference between BioAstin® and other patent-pending astaxanthin ingredients like AstaPure® is that the latter is produced using newer techniques in a hermetically sealed system.
